Help Wanted: New Editor for Daylilies in the Great Northeast

The American Daylily Society (ADS) Region 4 is seeking a new Editor for our regional newsletter, Daylilies in the Great Northeast. This publication is an important link between clubs and members throughout the region, sharing news, educational articles, photographs, and updates about daylily activities.

About the Newsletter

Daylilies in the Great Northeast is published twice a year—in spring and fall—and distributed electronically to more than 500 ADS members in Region 4. Each issue highlights:

  • Club reports and upcoming events
  • Articles on hybridizing, gardening, and daylily culture
  • Regional officer messages and AHS updates
  • Flower show coverage, photos, and award announcements

The newsletter serves as both an archive of our regional history and a celebration of the people and gardens that make Region 4 special.

Editor Responsibilities

The Region 4 Editor:

  • Collects and organizes articles, photos, and announcements from clubs and regional officers.
  • Edits submissions for clarity, grammar, and consistency.
  • Designs and assembles each issue (in Publisher, Word, or similar layout software).
  • Coordinates with the Newsletter Assistant and Regional President for review and publication.
  • Distributes the final digital version to Region 4 members via email.
  • Maintains communication with local clubs to encourage contributions and participation.

Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate:

  • Enjoys writing, editing, and working with digital layouts.
  • Has basic familiarity with Microsoft Publisher, Word, or comparable programs.
  • Communicates well with contributors and meets publication deadlines.
  • Is passionate about daylilies and the Region 4 community!
